Let us introduce you to the wonderful world of Mr Glue, where his friends and enemies go on amazing adventures together.
Enemies and villains
Professor Glooper drank something strange in a laboratory when he was a young enthusiastic scientist and has never been the same since. When he gets cross, his complexion becomes greener than ever and sometimes bubbles have been seen coming out of his ears. He cannot concentrate on any one thing for long as he is always thinking about the next noxious potion that he is going to create. The Gloop Lab, where he lives, is staffed by strange green mice in goggles.
Colonel Crackpot is a fraud. He isn’t a colonel and in fact has never even been in the army. He just really liked the outfit. He is now a bit embarrassed by the fact that he spends his whole life dressing up and pretending, so has turned to crime to deal with the shame. (He is in fact a fishmonger, but very few people know that, and he is keen to keep it this way.)
Lady Gertrude Gruntblatter is fat and greedy. She has a ferocious pet badger and enjoys hawking and shooting things. Her favourite thing in the whole world (apart from the badger) is her blunderbuss. She has a terrifically loud voice. She pays absolutely no regard whatsoever to her appearance.
Clorabella Swish was thwarted in love when she was much younger and has used all her energies to get to the top. She is absolutely ruthless, but nevertheless tries to conserve a ‘beautiful’ exterior. Her efforts at looking sweetly pretty do not hide the fact that she is in fact a monster in human form. Despite her many accessories, and outfits, she is sour, bitter and twisted.
Doctor Socks started out as a film star (after his medical degree) and modelled himself on Rudolph Valentino. He turned to crime as he felt that it was much more fun than being in films. He did however keep the Valentino hairstyle. He always loved the costume side of films, especially knitwear. Many years ago he was going to get married to a young wardrobe mistress – a certain Clorabella Swish. He left her when he realised that he could make a fortune in sock production and crime. Need we say more?
Friends and allies
Mr Archibald Penguin left Edinburgh Zoo one day and went out into the world to seek his Fortune. He has an ambition to be a submarine captain one day, but in the meantime is very happy to join Mr Glue and friends in their efforts to prevent world disasters caused by the Doctor Socks et al.
Griselda the Green Eyed Cat fell off a witch’s broomstick when she was a kitten and landed in Hildegard’s garden. Hildegard taught her that spitting and casting evil spells wasn’t nice, and that catching mice and teaching them gardening was a better thing to do. Griselda would like to run a bowling alley when she is older.
Hildegard Avocado is a paragon of loveliness. She is sweet, charming, and beautiful. Her great talent is gardening. Her home is a dazzling bower of flowers and she is often to be found singing in the roses. If she has one fault, it is that she is a little absent minded (and sometimes muddy).
Peregrine Stumpings hails from the Welsh marches. He tried living in each of the castles there and decided that they were all so cold, draughty and uncomfortable that it would be better if he went off on a quest. He has been stumping around ever since, being knightly. He has a particular axe to grind with one Lady Gertrude Gruntblatter who blew up his favourite treehouse.
